Trip organizer and SoCal Select Women's team: Bruce Silverman.
Bruce grew up in Orange County. Actually began playing in the inaugural year of AYSO in 1968. Later he began playing club soccer with the Fountain Valley Eagles, one of the first club teams in Orange County. He played his High School soccer at Newport Harbor and College soccer at Orange Coast College, for one year then transferred to San Diego State. Bruce has his USSF "C" license and has been coaching for 40 years. He coached club soccer for Southern California Storm and United FC from 2002 through 2008. He was the boy's head varsity coach at Century High School for 20 years winning 8 Orange League titles and was a CIF Finalist in 2014. He retired from coaching at Century in 2019. Bruce has been coaching SoCal Select Women's team for the past 12 years. He has been organizing these annual international soccer tours since 2006.
Thee original concept for SoCal Select women's team was to provide an opportunity for former female college players to have an venue to continue a highly competitive level of soccer beyond their college career. Since 2011 SoCal Select played in the SoCal Premier League won 4 league titles in 5 years. In International competition in the past 12 years SoCal Select has traveled to Spain, Greece, Turkey, Italy, England, Germany, Austrlia,France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Brazil. The team has compiled an International record of 98 wins, 6 losses and 10 ties. They have won 4 international tournaments including: The Costa Blanca Cup (Spain), The Costa Brava Cup (Spain), The Cup Denmark, The Versillia Cup (Italy). I 2015 SoCal Select was a finalist at the Donosti Cup Spain losing in penalties in the final held at the prestigious Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian. SoCal Select has had the opportunity to play several professional teams in Europe and the Fijian National team.

SoCAl Select Director of training: Coach Arevalo is the most experienced and credentialed coach on the SoCal Select Staff. He is the only coach on staff that holds a Pro coaching license. Coach Walter’s passion is helping players achieve their goals through intensive individual, group and team training. This year, (2023) we welcome Coach Walter as the head coach of our U23 team. Although, coach Walter will be the head coach of a SoCal Select team for the first time with the U23, he has been working with SoCal Select for the past 8 years, helping all teams prepare for international play running by many training sessions to help our teams compete to their full potential.
Coach Walter trains teams around the world, including Brazil, Peru and the United States. He has worked with several pro teams in Brazil, Peru and the United States including the Portland Thorns and Brazilian National team to name a few. Although coach Walter resides in Portland, he in continually traveling to work with teams and athletes.

SoCal Select Youth teams: Lisa Hermen
Lisa has been a member of the SoCal Select Senior team for the past 10 years. Lisa was a four-year varsity player at Cerritos High School before playing for Cypress College in 1998-99 where she was an All-Orange Empire Conference player. She later played for Cal Poly Pomona in 2000-2001—earning All-California Collegiate Athletic Association, All-Far West and Academic All-America status. Lisa has been coaching the SoCal Select youth travel team for the past 4 years. During that time SoCal Select youth team has won the Cup Denmark, Welsh Super Cup and was a semi-finalist in the Donosti Cup. Lisa coached at Santiago Canyon College from 2002 through 2019. Lisa has coached club soccer for 7 years and most recently was a State Cup Finalist and brought her girl's U17 FC Golden State team to the US Soccer National Regional's in 2016. She served as the assistant camp director for the Cypress Soccer Camp from 1999-2006. She has coached at Northwood and La Mirada High Schools. Lisa has a USSF 'B' License and a USSF National Youth License. Lisa has B.S. in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona and a Masters in Education from Azusa Pacific University.

SoCal Select Youth teams: Christy Medlin
Christy's has been coaching with SoCal Select for the past 7 years. Christy played collegiate soccer at Cypress College where she was a 2 year team captain and received 1st Team All League honors and team Defensive Player of the year. She finished her collegiate playing career at Cal State Fullerton and earned her BA, Teaching Credential, and Masters in Child Development and Education.
In high school, Christy was a 4 year varsity starter for Loara High School, earning 1st Team & 2nd team All League Honors, All Orange County Team Honors, and Team MVP. She earned the Athlete of Year award and Kay Malucky Scholarship her senior year. She also participated on the Olympic Development Program U17 & U19 Cal South State/Regional teams.
Christy left her elementary teaching position to pursue coaching. Christy coaches college soccer at Santiago Canyon, Christy is currently a director at Boca OC FC and currently holds a USSF National "A" License. She lives in Anaheim with her husband Andy and 3 children; Kylee, Jake and Eli.
